Training update

A quick snapshot of life according to Christo. I am 44yo, did my first Ironman at Busselton last December, have done a few triathlons including Half Ironman. I like cycling best of all with the run then the swim next in order of preference. I have a lot of characters (Deco, Roachy, Poss, Carps, Warren the equity member, the flying Fynn, Radar Raf, young John Gilmour, Stu Durham, Rocket Rodrigo, Senor Todd, Merlin the magician, Brian the Bladecutter, Nicky the PT  and many many more ) the will score a mention during my training monologues and life in general.

I’ve just seen Raf Baugh’s post on his third place in the Duathlon in Thailand. Lucky to have him as my running coach. I have a strong session in me brewing for tomorrow. Today, I’ve been getting my son ready to take his driving test so foot off the gas for me, so to speak, in terms of my training. Did a 6km run with Dee this morning (and she went on to do 12km in total). Her podiatrist at Ace Podiatry in Shelley has her trying out new orthotics to overcome shin splints. I have moments of sloth, laziness, low motivation. I’m sure once I hop on the bike tomorrow, I’ll regain the ’spark’. Looking forward to the 10km ASICS fun run on Sunday and the Darlington half marathon on 13 April.  I’ve polished off my very first tin of protein powder (at one scoop a day) which I’m sure with some added magnesium, zinc, etc is supplementing my gym work. The swimming work beckons at just over 4 weeks to go till Busselton Half Ironman. The event seems well-supported again.

Off to bed…to get up early to watch the Gunners take care of the Scousers!!!
