Fast walker

Here he comes….here comes ‘fast walker’ (same tune as Speed Racer!). I had an interesting training week. Last Thursday, 19 June, I had a hard running training session with Raf Baugh. Both Sally and Genessa in no mood to wait for passengers so it was another tough workout. 3kms of warm up, 6kms of hard running, 3kms of warm down. I read Cyrus Hands’ report on www.triwa.org.au on the World Triathlon Champs in Vancouver. How tough did that race sound??!!

 On Thu and Fri, met up with another guy called Paul on the cycle track. He’s just married and from South Africa and he seems to have a similar pace to me. A nice T-mobile bike and a quick ride home for both of us.

Saturday was our usual BFSR ride with some confusion over whether we’d ride to Freo or do our normal 60km loop. In the end, a few went to Freo (with the 3D Home Loan gang tagging on) and the rest of us headed back from Narrows via Mt Pleasant, Shelley and down High Rd then Garden St back to the shop.

 That afternoon, Dee and I went for a walk around the Bridges (about 10kms). On Sunday morning, around 10 ascents of Jacob’s ladder and a long 1hr walk around Kings Park heading back via the Law Walk. It was a cracker of a pace for a walk let me tell you.

I plan to get back into Central TAFE gym workouts and lunchtime runs soon. Dee did lots of fitness activities on the weekend as usual.

A ‘flattish’ cyclosportif ride awaits at the Swan Valley on Sunday with some good track cycling events to watch afterwards.

I am seriously contemplating an event called a ‘Painathlon’ in early August. Its a little hard to explain, just check out the www.painathlon.com website. Around 10 of the hardest running efforts in Perth linked up with some cycling in between. The Truth at Brigadoon - now there’s a hill!!

I’m commuting on Eddie the old Colnago today so take mercy on me and my 13kg bike…..until I pass you again that is!!  Starting to notice some folk ramping up their training for Ironman WA in December. Stick at it!!
