Tour of duty
Its actually a well-earned day off to Tour de France viewers as well as the cyclists. Cadel Evans showing how gritty and smart he is as a cyclist. To celebrate, today, as I cycled in to work, I did 5 lots of Mount St hill one after the other. Just doesn’t get any easier. I don’t often leave my saddle but Mount St really forces you to. I’ll do this a fair bit to prepare for Pinjarra cyclosportif (Pelotons de Pinjarra) on 3 August 2008. A testing, hilly circuit from Pinjarra to Dwellingup and then along Del Park Rd to halfway point near conveyor belt.
I’ll never forget a couple of years ago as our team finished, we had to stop for a Hotham Valley train as we were speeding down a hill. Bizarre stuff! I’ve done a bit of cycling lately (Narrows to Thomas St and back on Sunday) and the BFSR ride just as challenging as it has been.
I’m excited to see how many show up for Raf Baugh’s City to Surf training group as well as the normal Front Runner Coaching group this Thursday at Yokine Reserve. A few friends of mine had a P-plater plough into them on Sunday resulting in 6 wrecked carbon bikes and 6 cyclists taken to hospital by ambulance. A speedy recovery to all of them.
Carlton lost to the Saints. That will make the folks at Globevista happy! Doh!
Lots of events coming up. Dee’s personal trainer scored a great deal on an Orbea Aspin from Bikeforce Southern River. Thanks Paul McCartney (yes, that’s the owner’s name!) I have a new Deuter Cross Bike backpack for my commuting, a set of Profile windjammer aero bars….and a new Elite bottle cage for Dee’s Trek 1000.
Wet weather here in Perth. Life just seems very busy at the moment. Completely forgot about the King’s Park time trial. Will now have to wait for the Wandi 20km time trial.
