Just run down!

Since Painathlon (and likely after competing in it with a sinus infection) I have been quite unwell this week. No running training. I’ve been commuting in on ‘Sparkles’ and ‘Ernie’ but just taking it easy. As you know, I tend to race people in without too much prompting. As Raf Baugh has told me, this is a habit I have to try and break. I’ve been taking Duro-Tuss and just trying to break up a really bad chest infection and cough. I hate being sick. Its as simple as that!

By the way, results show I placed 28th out of 56 entrants to midfield is just dandy for this 44yo, 82kg old, fat guy!!

At the bikeshop, our local ‘Robbie Hunter’ missed out on his Collie to Donnybrook entry. He’d be a complete unknown so it would have been fascinating to see how he fared. Still, there’ll be plenty of other chances. He looks a very strong cyclist.

Yesterday, slept in a little, no Bikeforce Southern River ride for this little black duck! Today, I’ve been feeling a little better. Still lots of coughing but a little better. I drove in to King’s Park with Dee and we did and 90min walk around past Law Walk clockwise up May Drive. At 11am, I had to coach Matt’s U18 soccer team away at Mundaring. Ended up with a 5-3 win and Matt scored a cracking goal. I enjoy coaching these young men and it was a high standard game.

Dee and I then hung around at Mundaring Hotel for a nice meal then we hike along the Railway Heritage track for around 90mins. Saw a bandicoot and there were lots of other walkers and cyclists on this track. We plan on hiking the full 40kms around this loop soon. We then ordered some Little Caesars pizzas. Hopeful for a healthier week in terms of my training. There’s only 2 weeks till City to Surf Half Marathon.

Only just under 4mths till IMWA team event. We have a swimmer now, a cyclist and I’ll attempt the run. I plan to do Rottnest Marathon and Dee is also planning this as her first marathon.

Stay healthy, happy, fit.
