Run Christo Run!

Last week has been mainly cycling to work and back. I did the Front Runner training on Thursday which was a 3km warmup, a 3 km warm down and 3x 2km efforts with some interval work. These guys (and girls) all run well. It’s a great running group.
Sat AM was a solid 60km effort with [...]

Dugites, Marathons, Ferries, Two Ups and Cyclosportif

Well, it was a big weekend for this little black duck. I travelled over to Rottnest on the 3pm Ferry from Northport and, after a fairly rough trip, got there and checked out Stephen Dunn’s ‘digs’ with the WA Marathon Club. They were hosting a young Japanese girl who’d flown over just for the marathon [...]

Fleeting

Life is certainly that - fleeting! We were struck with some sad news this week. A group of Corpus Christi students were killed in a car accident. The driver was a young man we’d come to know very well, James Klessens (or Big Jim as I called him). He was one of Matt’s best mates through Yidarra [...]

Walk, don’t run!!

First and foremost I want to sincererly congratulate Frank Stapleton on being inducted as a life member of Triathlon Western Australia. A fantastic selfless achievement. I admire people who find time to volunteer for the greater good of the sport. In this case, triathlon.
I now think this bronchitis has had a hold of me for [...]

Winter blues

Its going to be a little cold and wet for the next couple of days. Still the Tour de France kicks off on Sat in Brittany. I’ll set up the rollers in front of the TV and settle in for the next 3 weeks.
A local rider (well-known in Perth, nationally and internationally) was recently caught [...]

I can jump puddles!

I was amazed at how many people rocked up for the Perth Half Marathon. Very well organised and pretty wet conditions. I have to learn not to start at the back of the line as I lose a couple of minutes dawdling at the start. Anyway I got up to the halfway at UWA at [...]

Busso Half Ironman post mortem

We arrived at Busselton around 3.30pm on the Friday 2nd May so we checked into Geographe Bayview then off to register. Registration was very smooth. I saw a bike called an Orbea Ordu Pro that was orange and black also - I wondered if its owner may want to swap with my orange and black [...]

Darlington, Carlton….and lunch!!

I had my core strength session on Friday afternoon. First time doing this. 4minutes of 360deg planking (ie 1min facing up, facing down, 1min facing each side), fitball push ups. A couple of our group swimming at Sorrento on weekend testing out new wetsuits. Passed on that! Did the usual Bikeforce Southern River ride on [...]

Happy birthday to me!!

Today, I am 44yo and woke up to a nice basket of assorted goodies, chocolates, treats. Very noice! We’ll go to dinner tonight. On Friday morning, Mix 94.5FM will feature my team in the ATO on the workplace 9@9 between 9am and 10am.
The least Arsenal could have done was beat Liverpool. I mean, they knew [...]
